She died at the age of 86 in November 1, 2008 at Los Angeles, California, United States. Her birth name is Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri Del Castillo. Her nickname was Nightingale of the Andes, The Last of the Inca Princesses and Peruvian Songbird. Her nationality was United States of America. She came to the world of singing in 1942 and left it in 1997. Her Genres were Exotica, world, Mambo and lounge. She was really a qualitative woman with great attitude and super fine personality. She simply had every fine qualities required to be a singer this is evidenced by her phenomenal work. The people and critics all around the world have appreciated her works. She had made a fine place for herself in the vast and complicated world of singing.

She was a Peruvian soprano. In the 1950s, she was one of the most famous proponents of Exotica music. She grew up in Peru. Her parents were Sixto Chavarri, who was born in Cajamarca and Emilia Castillo, born in Pallasca, Ancash. Her height is not mentioned. She had black hair color and dark brown eye color. Her album “Voice of the Xtabay” launched a period of fame that included performances at the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. She became a successful singer in New York City, appearing in clubs, as well as on Television and radio. She released her first album Voice of the Xtabay in 1950, along with her 1951 appearance in the Broadway musical Flahooley, which helped her to become popular celebrity. She was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording at 6445 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California.

In 1942 she got married to Moises Vivanco who is music composer. He had worked with her in Peru from the beginning of her career. In the 1950s, the two divorced, as Vivanco had relationship with another woman. This couple again remarried but a second divorce followed in 1965. Sumac and Vivanco had one son, Charles. She has given lots of interview in media. Her formal education is not mentioned. She looks beautiful and sexy. She died due to colorectal cancer.
