Jay Chandrasekhar is an American actor, comedian, writer, and director who was born on 9th April 1968 in Hinsdale, Illinois U.S with Indian ethnicity. His real name is Jayanth Jambulingam Chandrasekhar. He is best known for his exceptionally well work with the sketch comedy group Broken Lizard and also for directing and starring in various films of Broken Lizard such as Super Troopers, Club Dread, and Beerfest. Apart from the Broken Lizard troupe he has also directed many other successful featured film and television shows.

Chandrasekhar was the child of physician parent’s i.e., his father and mother both were physician. His father name is Arcot Jamulingam in short "AJ" Chandrasekhar and his mother name is Hema Chandrasekhar. They both are originally from southern India, specifically Chennai in the Tamil Nadu region. He was born in the hospital where his parents used to work; the name of that hospital is old Cook County Hospital.

He has two sisters, younger one and another elder one among which his younger sister is a lawyer whose name is Sandy Chandrasekhar. Until Chandrasekhar’s family shifted to Hinsdale they used to live in Oak Park, Illinois. He has graduated from Lake Forest Academy and from Colgate University. He did his graduation from the university with minor in philosophy and major in European history.

Along with the members of the comedian group, Charred Goosebeak, and Beta Theta Pi and the people whom he met during his collage at Colgate University he formed a team, which was known as Broken Lizard. Jay told that he found the way towards comedy after he acted in his high school and college level. Before moving to New York his troupe Broken Lizard was known as Charred Goose Beak. He has directed many movies but in the year 2005 he had directed his first movie, which was known as The Dukes of Hazzard. Later on he had directed the Series like Undeclared, Happy Endings, Community, Psych and Arrested Development and then he established himself as television comedy director. In his opinion the earlier the director joins any show, they will have more impact on its look and feel.

Recently in the year 2012 he has made the movie called The Babymakers and likewise, he has also directed many episodes of Blue Mountain State. Usually Chandrasekhar’s stand-up which he used to do as mixture of jokes and stories used to be pretty dirty. In the year 2005 he was married to an actress Susan Clarke. They have altogether three children along with his twins and one elder son.
