Going back to his career, he started it back in 1966 and is actively involved in the field till now. He first started working in Saskatoon Star Phoenix. Later, he moved to radio and then to television.
In 1973, he joined CTV, where he became the newsreader, reporter, anchor, and producer of the popular “Canada AM.” In 1975, he was promoted and became a reporter for the CTV National News. While in CTV, he also worked as the national affairs correspondent. From this channel, his stardom heightened.
Later in 1982, he joined Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He became associated with the popular public program “The Journal.” He also got the chance to work for “Midday,” which was yet another successful TV show at that time.
In his career, he has shifted many jobs. In 1986, he moved to Los Angeles and joined KNBC-TV. He became a news anchor at the channel. His career made drastic changes in 1988 when he joined NBC. At first, he worked there as a correspondent for NBC Nightly News and Today Show.
