Robert Quinlan "Bob" Costas professionally known as Bob Costas is an American sportscaster. Bob Costas was born in the borough of Queens in New York City on March 22, 1952.

He was born with an Irish and Greek descent to Jayne and John George Costas. Born with white ethnicity, Bob grew up primarily in Commack, New York.

He graduated from Commack High School South and the Syracuse University; he has majored in communications.

He began his career as an announcer for the Syracuse Blazers minor-league hockey team while he was attending Syracuse University.
