Gerard James Butler is a Scottish actor and trained lawyer born on 13 November 1969 in Paisley, Scotland. Forty five year old Butler is best known for his acting skills, hard work and down to earth nature. He is highly appreciated for his performances in different movies and TV shows like Law Abiding Citizen, The Ugly Truth, The Phantom of the Opera, Shattered, 300, Timeline, Gamer and The Bounty Hunter. With the acting skills he has, hard work and dedication in his each and every work, he is able to achieve huge success by gaining number of fans, earning a handsome salary and a net worth of $30 million dollars.

Butler was born as the youngest child of Margaret and Edward Butler among their three children. When Butler was 18 months old he returned back to Scotland from Quebec along with his mother, where his mother had divorce with his father. Gerard used to get good grades at St Mirin's & St Margaret's High School and he was also assigned as the head boy. Butler also has attended Scottish Youth Theatre while he was a teenager. He studied law at the University of Glasgow. After the reunion with his father at a Glasgow restaurant he became closer with him.  But this couldn’t last long as his father died due to cancer when Butler was 22 year old.

Butler was first unsuccessful to get any acting roles so he worked as waiter, a telemarketer and likewise as a demonstrator of how toys work at fairs. He began his acting career with small roles in film. He has appeared in the movies like:  Tomorrow Never Dies, Tale of the Mummy, Timeline, The Phantom of the Opera, Dracula, The Ugly Truth, Law Abiding Citizen, The Bounty Hunter, Butterfly on a Wheel and so on. While filming Chasing Mavericks he was pulled under big waves due to which Gerard was hospitalized in the year 2011 on 18th December. He has also given his voice for the animated movie How to Train Your Dragon. Butler starred in the movie Olympus Has Fallen, an action thriller movie which was released in 2013. While filming this movie Gerard broke two bones of his neck but was unknown about this until he had an MRI scan. Recently, Butler has spoken his curiosity to buy a Scottish castle. Butler has also completed his treatment course at a rehabilitation center for abuse of painkillers.

Butler is a talented and successful actor who has already been nominated for many titles but is only able to win one that is MTV Movie Awards for his best fight.  Recently, butler has been dating Morgan Brown who is his girlfriend. His girlfriend is a successful businesswoman but before this she was a model. He is not married so he doesn’t have wife. Though he is unmarried he is not a gay.
